Where We Treat

- At your child’s daycare or preschool, with permission

- At your child’s school, with permission

- At other pre-arranged location (e.g. summer camp, after-school program, park or other agreed upon location)

Evaluations

Before we begin therapy, we will collect a Case History (gathering information about your child's medical, developmental, and communication history) and conduct a Parent Interview to gather your concerns and observations. We will observe your child and complete standardized testing to identify their developmental strengths and areas for improvement.

Then, our therapists will work closely with your family to create meaningful therapy goals and choose the best therapy approach for your child.

If your child has had an evaluation done at school or another clinic within the last year, we may be able to review the findings and begin therapy right away.

Speech Evaluation
Articulation vs Phonological Processing

Articulation refers to the ability to clearly produce speech sounds using the mouth's articulators (tongue, lips, teeth, etc.). An articulation evaluation will allow us to analyze sound production, identify errors, and determine the underlying causes of articulation difficulties. Therapy will focus on addressing errors in the production of individual speech sounds, which can impact intelligibility.

vs

Phonological Processing refers to the treatment of speech sound errors that follow predictable patterns, known as phonological processes. These patterns are normal in early childhood as children learn to speak, but become a disorder when they persist past expected ages or involve atypical patterns. Speech therapy aims to help children unlearn these error patterns and develop more accurate speech production.

Language Evaluation

A language evaluation in speech therapy is a comprehensive assessment to determine communication skills, specifically focusing on the ability to understand and use language. This evaluation helps identify areas of strength and weakness in receptive and expressive language, as well as pragmatic language skills.

Speech and Language
Therapy Sessions

Speech therapy sessions will be held in either individual or small group settings, at the discretion of the therapist, to provide the best learning environment for your child.

Online therapy

Online therapy may be offered for certain situations to  provide flexibility and convenience to allow your child to participate in speech therapy when in-person services are not convenient.
